From 2009 to 2014, the microwaved food industry suffered a significant decline in sales. Some even predicted microwaves themselves would go out of style, and companies would cease to manufacture them. Interestingly, microwave food and microwave technology are in some way essentials in modern-day America. For the average working person, the concept of a hot meal after a long day of work is extremely appealing, and microwaves deliver on that promise in only a quick few minutes. However, as the younger generation moved to cities and learned to cook post-college, their love for microwaves began to wane. The discovery that microwaved food might not be healthy also contributed to the decline in microwave usage. However, microwaves are back. As of the end of this year, microwave manufacturers will see another year of increased demand for microwaves – the fourth one in a row.
